From the Aspen Ideas Festival, Food and Wine, and Jazz Aspen Snowmass, to Wintersköl, Spring Jam, and the Winter X Games, Aspen is host to great annual events.  Learn more about the Aspen events we look forward to each year.

Winter

Aspen Snowmass Opening Day
The official start of winter in Aspen is opening day at Aspen Snowmass.  Aspen and Snowmass Mountains open on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2011.  Quickly following opening day at Aspen Mountain is the annual Aspen Winternational, an FIS Alpine World Cup event.  Buttermilk and Aspen Highlands open a few weeks later on Saturday, December 10, 2011.

12 Days of Aspen
During the 12 Days of Aspen, December 20-31, the charming downtown of Aspen becomes a winter wonderland of holiday cheer. Free ice skating, concerts and carolers, and entertainment for all ages lights up the streets of Aspen. Even Santa and his reindeer join in the celebration! Read more about the 12 Days of Aspen.

Wintersköl – January 12-15, 2012
Starting in 1951, Wintersköl is Aspen's annual toast to winter.  The four day event includes on-mountain activities, a parade, a Soupsköl competition, snow carving, fireworks, and live music.  
 
Winter X Games – January 26-29, 2012
The premier winter action sport event, the Winter X Games, is held annually in Aspen, Colorado.  The event includes extreme skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling at Buttermilk Mountain and features athletes from around the world.  Be sure to check out the SuperPipe and Big Air competitions.
 
Spring Jam – March 16-18, 2012 and March 23-25, 2012
The annual Bud Light Spring Jam includes two weekends of ski and snowboard competitions, concerts and parties in Aspen and Snowmass.  Enjoy Big Air Fridays, the Hi-Fi Concert Series, and the Terrain Park Boot Camp all in one weekend.

Aspen Snowmass Closing Day
Closing days at Colorado ski areas are legendary.  In Aspen, we're fortunate enough to spread out the fun to three dates in April.  Buttermilk Mountain closes on April 8, 2012, Aspen and Snowmass Mountains close on April 15, 2012, and Aspen Highlands closes April 22, 2012.  These are events not to be missed.

 

Summer

Chili Pepper and Brew Festival - early June
Kickoff summer with the annual Chili Pepper and Brew Festival in Snowmass Village.  The event combines music on Fanny Hill with a chili and beer festival and competition, and promises to be a great start to summer. 


Food & Wine Classic – mid June
For the past thirty years, FOOD & WINE magazine has been hosting the Food & Wine Class in Aspen.  Experience three dimensions of the magazine with cooking demonstrations, food samplings, and wine tastings.

Aspen Ideas Festival – late June
The Aspen Ideas Festival brings together experts at the forefront of their fields and leaders who’s ideas are changing the world for a conversation packed week in Aspen, Colorado.  Join the Aspen Ideas Festival for inspired thinking. 

Aspen Music Festival and School – late June through mid-August
Since 1949, Aspen has been home to the most accomplished and promising musicians.  Enjoy concerts at the Benedict Music Tent or visit the school campus for Master Classes.

Aspen Saturday Market - Late June thru October
The Saturday Market is held every Saturday with Colorado grown produce, crafts and local eateries providing a welcome afternoon strolling through downtown Aspen. Often times there are also cooking demonstrations and live music. Come enjoy the local atmosphere and fresh produce!

Jazz Aspen Snowmass – late June and Labor Day
Jazz Aspen Snowmass hosts two summer festivals, late June and Labor Day weekend.  The June Festival includes ten days of music including headline concerts by world-class musicians at the Benedict Music Tent.  The Labor Day Festival is in Snowmass Town Park. In addition to great music, the event includes a bazaar of international food, drink, and crafts.
